CHINESE PIRATES
ATTACK BRITISH STEAMER VESSEL SET ON FIRE BY- Tblegeaph.—press’ Association. Copyright. y . Peking, November 16. When the British steamer Sunning was bound from Shanghai for HongKong, pirates disguised as passengers endeavoured to gain control between Amoy, and Hong Kong. Determined resistance resulted iu their setting the ship on fire, founding an officer, and taking two Europeans away. The warship Bluebell was standing by, but had great difficulty tn giving assistance on account of the high seas. The latest wireless reports state that the Bluebell captured a boatload of pirates and is searching for the Europeans. It is understood that the flames were subdued.—Sydney “Sun” Cable.
