Presbyterian minister of Wanaka and Pembroke, who is now attending the General Assembly at Wellington, is in his 92nd year, lie arrived in New Zealand over 60 years ago, and became a minister in the Church of Otago and Southland. He was first settled at Maheno; later he was minister at Port Chalmers, and for the last seven years he has been minister of the large parish of Wanaka. Mr. Riley usually conducts three services on the Sabbath and travels by motor-car about 50 miles. Marcel Kurz, a famous Swiss mountaineer, who has developed a new technique of climbing on skis Their aim while in the Dominion is to conquer Mount Tasman (11.500 ft. the successful ascent of which has been accomplished hitherto ■ but three times.
