KENT TERRACE DISPUTE
SHOULD PROCLAMATION ISSUE? MAGISTRATE TO ADJUDICATE HEARING ON FRIDAY In view of an announcement made by the Attorney=General (Hon. F. J. Rolleston). yestcrday, finality should shortly be reached in connection with the Kent Terrace reserve dispute. "The Government lias decided,” said the Minister, “that the question as to granting the application of the Wellington City Council for a proclamation under section 12 of the Land Act, 1924, regarding the work proposed in Kent Terrace, will be referred to Mr. E. Page. S M., who has been directed to hear the parties interested, and, after taking into account all considerations that lie may consider relevant, to report to the Government whether, in his opinion the proclamation shall issue in regard to the whole or any part of the land comprised in the council’s application.” The Minister added that\the inquiry, which would be open to the public, would be held at the Magistrate’s Court on Friday next, and the parties interested had been advised to attend and call witnesses.
