HUNDRED YEARS OLD
feARLY SETTLER PASSES Dominion Special. Palmerston North, November 16. The death has occurred, at the age of 100 years, of Mr. Martin Gorinski, a resident of the Norsewood district A native of Posen, Poland, deceased, by profession an engineer, came out to New Zealand 60 years ago with his wife and two members of his family, Napier being reached after an eventful voyage. In pursuance of his intention to take up farming at Norsewood, Mr. Gorinski made, on foot, the long journey via Takapau. He engaged in farming in Norsewood for about 43 years, and at periods- took part in railway line construction. It was his custom on occasions to walk to his home from Feildirig and back over the ranges via Apiti In his earlier years deceased was actively interested in local, affairs,, and for a number of years was a member of the Norsewood Road Board He possessed three medals to mark the part he played as a soldier. I His wife predeceased him thirty years ago, while a daughter, Mrs. A. Senk, mother of Mr. John Senk, of Wellsbourne Street, Palmerston North, also passed away. There survive two sons, John (Norsewood) and Joseph (Gisborne), and one daughter, Mrs. M. O’Kane (Matamau).
