DUKE OF MARLBOROUGH’S MARRIAGE
ANNULLED BY THE VATICAN. (Rec. November 15, 8.5 p.m.) London. November 15. Newspapers give prominence to the Vatican’s decision annulling the marriage of the Duke of Marlborough with Consuelo Vanderbilt, apparently at the request of the latter, who applied to the Diocesan Court at Southwark. The matter was referred to the Sacred Roman Rota, which has now given its decision. The Duke, who was recently converted to Roman Catholicism, did not oppose the annulment, the basis of which seems to be the Consuelo’s claim that the marriage was arranged against her wishes.
