ASIATIC LEAGUE
MOSCOW DENIES REPORT MERE OFFER OF TREATIES OF NON-AGGRESSION Moscow, November 14. The, Foreign Commissariat Department describes as pure rubbish the reported preparation of an Asiatic League of Nations. It says that the Soviet is merely offering Asiatics, as well as European countries, treaties of non-aggression and neutrality. [A cablegram in Saturday’s issue stated that, discussing the question. What is the object of the meeting, of Tewfik Rushdi Bey, the Turkish Foreign Minister, with Tchitcherin, the “Daily Telegraph’s” diplomatic correspondent said that Moscow dreamed of an Asiatic League of Nations under Soviet leadership. Therefore Moscow was most anxious to prevent Turkey from applying to Geneva.] IDENTICAL INTERESTS OF TURKEY AND SOVIET MUST STAND TOGETHER Riga, November 14. “Down with Imperialism ! Hail, to a young and independent Turkey!” was the peroration at a banquet at Odessa, at which Tewfik Bey was being entertained. He added that the Turkish and Soviet interests required an identical attitude towards the Western Imperialists. Turkey and Russia had won their independence together, and they must stand together to defeat any attempts of capitalists to enslave them. —Sydney “Sun” Cable. TCHITCHERIN TO MEET BRIAND Paris, November J 4. M. Tchitcherin is expected, within a few days to interview M. Briand.
