GREAT LANDSLIDE
RAISES BED OF RIVER EBBW HOUSES UNDERMINED BY FLOOD London, November 14. Heavy rain caused a mountain side at Cwm, near Ebbw Vale (Monmouthshire), to slide toward the river Ebbw, the bed of which was raised above the street level. The river, rushing through the streets, undermined the houses and the inhabitants had to quit. FORTY HOMES DESOLATED London, November 14. The Cwm floods necessitated the blowing np of a huge concrete river wall temporarily diverting the water from the main road. The situation is precarious. Forty homes are desolated, and the damage exceeds £lOO,OOO. —Sydney "Sun” Cable, '
