VICIOUS GUERRILLA WARFARE
BOOTLEGGING GANGS RIVALRY New York, November. 12. A message from Herrin (Illinois) states that members of rival bootlegging gangs are now using aeroplanes to carry on a vicious guerrilla warfare. A low-flying aeroplane circled the house of a gang leader and dropped three bombs. The first exploded 100 yards from the house and did no damage. The other two were duds. The gangsters ran from the building and opened fire on the aeroplane with machineguns and rifles, while the 'plane circled the house three 1 times, zoomed, and sped away. The pilot was unhurt, keeping well under cover.
