Mrs. Lovell, of Hawera, is at present on a visit to Wanganui. Miss Betty Johnstone, of Hawke’s Bay, is staying with her aunt, Mrs Turnbull, of Wellington. Mrs. Chubbs Johnston, of Dunedin, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Alan Good, of Hawera. Miss Helen Hewitt, of Pahiatua, is staying with Mrs. L. A. Abraham, of ; Palmerston North. . . Miss Marion Lowry, of Hastings, is spending a holiday in Christchurch. The engagement is announced of Lilian Ethel, youngest daughter of the ,late Charles Clare and Mrs. John Gray, “Bothwell,” Longacre, to Joseph, youngest son of Mr and Mrs. -J. ',Russell, Durie Hill, Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs Douglas, of Hawera, have arrived in Palmerston North. Mr Douglas has taken up his duties as manager of the Bank of New South Wales. ■ Mr. and Mrs. J. H. E. Cooper, of Masterton, who are leaving the district to take up residence in Auckland, were ■.’tendered an enjovable partv at the residence of Mrs J Kerr. Mrs. Tonkin, of Hastings, is at present visiting Wanganui The engagement is announced of Isabella Mav, daughter of Mr and Mrs. W W..
