BUTTER IN LONDON ADVICE RECEIVED. NOT TO HOLD. Dominion Special. Auckland, November 14. A recommendation to all dairy factories holding butter in store in London to release tueir stocks is made in a cablegram received by the Auckland agents of Messrs. Andrew Clement und Sons. The cablegram says: “Business is stagnant, and buyers are resenting price fixing. The position is adversely atfecting all interests.” Latest advices from London say stocks of free New Zealand butter are quoted' at 138 s. to 1145., and the market is quiet, anil- the controlled price of New Zealand butter is 148 s. to 1505., but there is practically no business. An instance is qiwted by a local firm of the loss due to holding butter. The shipment was landed in London on January 20, when New Zealand butter was quoted at 1765. It was held, and eventually sold at the end of September for 160 s. The gross loss, with extra insurance, interest, and exchange charges, etc., was 355. a cwt.

Australian crops 33d., hinds 41d. ' Chilled Beef. Argentine, fores 3Jd., hinds sld. Other descriptions are unchanged in price. WESTFIELD STOCK SALE Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly fat stock sale at Westfield, Auckland, on November 10, as under:— Beef.—Tnere was a large yarding. The demand was not keen, and there was a further decline in values, this being more noticeable in heavy cattle. Extra choice ox sold to 345. per 1001 b. Choice and prime, 31s. to 335.; just killable, 28s. to 305.; prime young cow and heifer beef, £1 6s. to £1 10s.; just killable, 225. to 245. 6d. bheep.—A smaller yarding, prices for wethers being slightly better than last week, there being little or i.o change in prices of ewes. No extra heavy prime wethers were penned. Heavy prime, shorn, 265.; medium, £1 3s. to £1 45.; light and unfinished, 19s. to 225.; heavy prime ewes, £1 Is.; lighter, 17s. to £1; other ewes. 14s. to 16s. Ltd., have received the following cablegram from London dated November 12- “The spot, market for lamb is weaker with very little demand, whilst for mutton the market is stagnant and the prices arc weak, particularly for ewes.” DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET Messrs. Dalgety and Company Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date November 11: “Total imports of butter into United Kingdom last month were 412,000 cwt., ns ■ compared with 322.4)00 cwt. for the same period last year. ’ The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has been advised by its Lohdon Office that the supply of meat and like produce to the London Central Markets during the nine months ended September. 1926. aggregated 353,066 tons, as against 349,308 tons same period 1925, ah increase of 12,7.58 tons or 3.7 per cent. Imported supplies apart from produce originating in Ireland, formed 81.4 percent of the total quantity of produce marketed.
