HUGE BUSH FIRES
SWEEPING SOUTHERN QUEENSLAND
SOLDIERS’ SETTLEMENT 0 IN DANGER
(ReC. November 12, 9.5 p.m.) Brisbane, November 12. Huge bush fires continue to sweep the southern portions of the State. Th latest big outbreak is in the Stanthorpe district, where a number of valuable orchards have been stroyed. Fires are raging from Wilson s Downfall to Stanthorne, and from Eukev to the New. South Wales border. The soldier settlement of Amiens, near Stanthorpe, is surrounded by a ring of fires, and grave fears are entertained for the safety of the settlers.
