The danger of fires originating in electrical svsteins in buildings was discussed bv the executive of the New Zealand Fire Brigades’ Association at its last meeting at Auckland (states the “New Zealand Herald”). The following resolution was. carried“ That, while fully appreciating the Government regulations, which it is nndei’stood are being framed for the safety of life and property from the dangers of electricity, the executive urges the danger likely to eventuate from the present methods of placing fuse boxes inside buildings, and suggests that provision should be made for electric lights and to be placed outside all buildings. Ine executive further suggested that a regulation should be drafted limiting to one the number of electric light services permitted to be installed in any one .building, and that the behind switch-boards should be encased, mthin some fire-resisting material. A house in New Plymouth which bad just-been vacated by the tenants was recently denuded of all electee light globes ’ (says the “Taranaki Herald ), Ind a few days later the enterprising thief turned his attention to the washhouse, whence he took the copper. Ine bootv obtained on the two visits was placed in two different auction room* for "disposal, where it was recovered, and it is understood the unauthorised visitor will be called upon to explain his adventures .to-a Magistrate.
