The King George Theatre at Lower Hutt has been completely altered into an up-to-date and luxurious theatre ana Town Hall combined, under a new proprietary. It ‘has been remodelled with* ui, provided with a , spacious dress circle, new seats, and has been redecorated and furnished in a highly artistic manner. The iofhcnil opening will take place on Monday, on tne occasion of the fifteenth annual conceit of the Lower Hutt Bowling and tennis Club, when, nt 8 p.m., the Mayor (Ml. W. T. Strand) will preside at the official opening of the new town Hall, that is likely to be such, an asset to this flourishing town. Ihauks to the indefatigable energy of Mr. h. J. Hill, an excellent programme has been prepared which will vie with the many notable ones given in the past under the same" auspices. The performersinclude Miss Millicent Knight, born and bred in the Hutt Valley, who, after five years under the best of teachers in England, returns to her home, according to London critics, a finished singer. This will be her first appearance in the Wellington province. M* ss Frances Morrison, a contralto who is also tew to Wellington, and who has just returned from America, is also on the programme. An innovation to the ordinary concert programme will be the dancing of Miss Nesta Carwell-Cooke and her pupil. Miss McFarlane. Mrs. A. InnesMurray, now to Wellington audience? as an elocutionist, will also contribute. In addition, Messrs. Harison. Cook, . • J. Hill, Norman Aitken, R. R. Orr, and Albert Russell are always welcome. Mr. Harold Whittle will be the accompanist, and Mr. Barton Ginger stage manager. Trains and buses will leave Wellington in time for the concert, and special arrangements will bo made tor the return journey. The box plan is nt R- Hannah and Co. s. Main Road. Lower Hutt.
