FIRE BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The Mayor (Atr. 0. J. Norwood) presided al the monthly meeting of the Fire Board yesterday morning. There nas a full attendance of members. Ihe sub-committee of the board sot up ID connection with the acquisition of the fire suppression plant from the City Council furnisher! a .full icport on the matter, and negotiations i re to be proceeded with on the basis of the recommendations made in the report. A report was also received trom the sub-committee that was appointed to ■zo into the matter of contributions to the board’s fund. Several firms had been notified of their obligations under the Act, and these were now making inquiries from their principals as to the details of insurances required by the board. .... r In connection with the issue of a precautionary notice to all owners rf houses and buildings of any kind- within the board’s district, it was decided to have 20.000 of such notices printed, and circulated to owners through the medium of the insurance companies. The tender of Air. H. Savage was accepted for the supply of 20 tarpaulins to be used as a protection for salvaged pronertv at fires. Tim Ngaio Progressive Association forwarded a 1 request for the extension of the fire-sunpression service to that district. The secretary was instructed tn reply that the matter would receive the careful consideration of the board. The superintendent reported that. in answer to a request from the Mt. Cook School Committee, he had made an inspection of the fire-places cf the old Mt. Cook Infant School. A renort on the Central Fire Station site (the future ownership cf which has yet to be determined) was left oyer for consideration nt the next meeting of the board.
