EXPRESS DELAYED
, THROUGH SLIPPERY ' RAILS -v-i . •Owing to the fact that the suburban train which left Thorndon Station at 6.4 p.m. yesterday was unable to climb the hill between 'Thorndon and Ngaio, the southward-bound New Plymouth express did not arrive at Wellington yesterday until .15 minutes after the time scheduled. The suburban train which was- the cause’of the delay does not usually leave until after the arrival of the'New Plymouth .express, but, as the express had already suffered minor, delays en route, the outgoing train proceeded on its journev. Tt was heavily laden, however, and, owing to the train slipping oh the wet rails, it was found impossib'e lor it to proceed Accordingly it returned to Thorndon, and the New Plvinouth express, which had meanwhile been delayed at Ngaio, followed it' soon afterwards. ■ It arrived at . Thorndon at 6.48 p.m.,: 45 minutes after- the schedule time.
