KILBIRNIE AFFAIRS

MEETING OF ELECTORS’ ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Kilbirnie Municipal Electors’ Association was held on Wednesday, the resident (Mr. A. G. Jorgensen) presiding. The annual report stated that thereQ were 130 members on the rolls of the Association. The past year had beeh a fairly active one, and that the much-dis-eussed project of tunnel duplication remained as it was a year ago. The executive. while maintaining their faith in the Ellice Street route, acquiesced in a further expert examination of the proposal to carry the city entrance to the new tunnel via Rison Grove. As a result of representations made through the Civic League, the City Council had agreed to a modified method of hearing appeals in regard to the electrical change-over. This concession will apply only to charges under £3O. After consideration of a letter from the Civic League, asking the Association to support its candidate for the next Mayoral election, Mr. G. A. Troup, it was decided to reply stating that, in the opinion of the association, the matter should ba held over until January of next year. 1 It was decided to approve of a resolution passed by the Hataitai Municipal Electors’ Association, to the effect that the' City' Council should be' requested to lay a bitumen pavement on all roads in which municipal buses are run. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. A.. G. Jorgensen; vice-presidents, Messrs. T. M. Donovan and M. F. Bonrke; secretarytreasurer. Mr. 11. W. Pilcher; committee, Messrs. W. D. Bacon, O. Benge, IV, Cowan. F. J. Gordon. IV. R. Jourdain, J. G. Marshall, C. W. Ri'ckard. nnd It. V. Thornton: delegates to the Civic League, Messrs. T. M.
