AMERICAN CONSUL'S WORDS TO CHILDREN “DELIVER US FROM INTERNATIONAL HATRED’’ Dominion Special. . Auckland, November 11. A glowing tribute to New Zealand was paid by the American Consul, Mr. W. F. Boyle, in an address to children at'air Armistice Day ceremony. •“The outstanding impression,’.’-he said, “that'your country makes on. the 'guest within 'your' gates is that New Zealand is. a wonderfully clean country—a. beautiful, clean, green country inhabited by a clean race of people who speak Hie English language with exceptional purity.. and whose honesty; of purpose and wholesomenew of thought needs-must spring from hearts that, are clean- .Do you realise what. a .splendid start your , new country has toward the ideals of all .. true greatness; that, even as your .soil -, refuses to. harbour venomous traditions,' you--have no • traditional enemy?, ..And yet fiow proudly may you recall that, v.Phout a traditional enemy,,,-with, the , field of actual hostilities, thousands of, leagues .re.moyed from your shores, when - the. houf.was .at hand- to.test your loyalty... to your great Empire, there Was no quibbling, no hesitation, no delay-.
