Pola Negri, who on arrival at New York was charged with failing to declare some iewellcry, was allowed to go to her hotel, after being questioned and on promising to appear at the Customs House and pay whatever fine was assessed. When the Berengaria docked the officers seized sixteen bottles, which were in Pola Negri’s trunks., and broke them against the deck railing. They fined her five dollars for each bottle.
