ACCIDENT WITH A RIFLE i By Telegraph—Press Association. Wliangarei, May 4. Evidence at the inquest concerning the death of David Aliller by accidental shooting at Alangapai on Friday night, disclosed a variation from the first account. Herbert Stanley Carter, one of a number of sportsmen who assembled at deceased’s home, testified that, when demonstrating the action of a Winchester 'epeating rifle with which he intended to go goathunting, he put a cartridge in the magazine. When closing the breach his thumb came in contact with the trigger, causing an explosion. The bullet struck a chair where deceased was sitting and entered his left side, and made its exit below the right shoulder. A verdict was returned that death was due to a wound, accidentally inflicted by Carter
