HIGH PRESSURE WATER FOR KARORI

Alany Karori residents will be surprised to learn that they will be able to connect up with a high-pressure water supply in about a fortnight’s time. This docs not mean that the Orongorongo supply 7 is available; that is still a good twelve months away. What lias been done by the waterworks engineer is to run a small main from the Northland service reservoir down the gully to the westward, through the corporation depot, up the rise on the other side, aud so on by way- of the main road to join the network of, new reticulating pipes at Karori. , V hilst drv weather still prevailed this move could not with safety be made, but now that the weather has broken, and there is likelv to be a plenitude of water for four or’ five months, this plan for supplying a long-felt want was carried out. Onlv' those living in streets below the level of the reservoir can be supplied. This district, the waterworks engineer says, includes Church Hill and thereabouts, and all houses below the level of Wallace Street to the cast and Friend Street to the west of the Alain Karori Road. In view of this development, there is likely to be a good deal of water pipe laying during the next fewweeks. This is anticipating the Orongorongo supply, and it is hoped to continue the service until such time as that supply is available.
