HARRIERS

THE BROOKLYN CLUB

The first run of the Brooklyn Harriers was held on Saturday from Karori.. when about 15 runners turned out. Paper was dispensed with, and the pack, under the leadership of At. Malls, started on from the Karori Tearooms at a. smart pace. Hie course, being in a southerly direction. About half a mile of particularly good running was met with along a valley leading to the Upper Karori reservoir'. and a fast clip was .maintained until flic reservoir was sighted. Here a turn was made to the west., and for the, most part climbing and slipping down the hills till the Karori Road was finally reached. The annual run-in for the club's blue ribbon was held over a distance of about 250 yards, and resulted m an interesting contest. It was early sern that the. decision would lie. etween Walls, Bock, and Tipton, and for 220 yards these three' were running neck and nock. At .this point. Beck and Walls gained a 'slight advantage over Tinton. and the first-named, unwinding a final dash over the last ten yards, just succeeded in beating Walls to the lane. Result: F. Book. 1; M. Walls, 2; AV. Tipton, 3. Next week’s run will bo from Northland, when the club will be the guests of Air. and Airs. H. Rose.
