AIMS OF CONSOLIDATED SCHOOLS By Telegraph—Press Association Te Kuiti, Mav 1. The Piopio Consolidated School was officially opened yesterdav afternoon by the Minister of Education (Sir James Parr). The Minister said the •school was an attempt to bring to the country as good education as the big cities enjoyed. He urged that transport costs should be kept as low as possible, because, on its success or failure, the consolidation scheme largely depended. He stressed the ad•'bhtages of a system which brought tho children together and ga’-e them a wider outlook and an education of a standard impossible in small country schools. The cost of education was high, but was a most important work. The best and most complete public works icy would fall to the ground if there <vas not a cultivated and intelligent population to go with it. i
