A LAW LORD SPEEDSTER
BRITAIN AMUSED. "When Lord Dunedin, a Lord of Appeal, who is 75 years of age, was stopped recently’ (says the London “Motor”) by a policeman for driving his motor-car on the Brighton road at a speed alleged to be more than 31 ni.p.h., he is reported to have said to the policeman, ‘I admit it, but there was no danger, officer.’ “It is refreshing to have from a judiluminary of such eminence' an admission so frank—that speed is not necesarily dangerous. This is perfectly true. Unfortunately, there are many lesser legal lights who look upon speed in itself as essentially dangerous without regard to the circumstances. , “This is just one more instance of the futility of the 20-mile-an-liour speed limit and the unfairness of trapping for speed alone.”
