GOOD TEMPLARS BANQUET
The Rechabite Chambers, Ghuzneo Street, presented an animated appearance when the Anzac Lodge, No. 2j, 1.0.G.T., held a. banquet. The hall was tastefully decorated. Representatives were present as follow:--Grand lodge officers, Sister Betts, G.V.T.; Bros. Petherick, grand secretary; G. Price, chairman of the advisory board; IV. J. Trevithick, G.S.J.W. District Lodge; Bro. J. Warren, D.C.T.; Sister Hirst, Diet. E. Dep.; Sister Lloyd, D. Chap.; Pioneer No. 11, Bros. Hirst and Owler; Star of Wellington, Bros. Doman and Ashen and Sister Gray; LOH., Bro. Thomas Fathers, D. See.; Salvation^rmy, Ensign Fraser; Central Mission, Bev. and Mrs. Parliament was represented by Mr. P. Fraser, M.P. for Wellington Central. Mr. and Mrs. G. Anderson, Mayor and Mayoress of Dannevirke, were aifo present. Tlis Rev. Knowles-Smith occupied the chair. Various toasts were honoured as' follow: — “The King’’ (proposed by the chairman find received with musical honours;; “Grand Lodge of New Zealand" (Bro. Hirst proposer, Sister Mrs. Betts, G.V.T., responded); “District Lodge’’ (Bro. Lloyd, senr., L. Dep., proposer, Bro. J. Warren, DtC.T., responded); “Parliament" (sec. of Anzac Lodge proposer, Mr. P. Fraser, M.P., responded); “Kindred Societies” (Bro. G. Price, G.M., proposer, Bro. T. Fathers, dist. sec. 1.0. R., and Ensign Fraser, Salvation Army, responded); “Juvenile Department" (proposed by Bro. Dorrian, C.T., and responded to by G.S.J.W.); “The Ladies,” proposed by Mr. G. Anderson and responded to by Bro. Trevithick; "The ' Chairman,” proposed by Mr. Fraser, M.P., and responded to by Bro. Warren, D.C.T. The last toast, “Tho Youngest Anzac,” was proposed by Sister Culver. Tho programme of items with which the toast list was interspersed was ns follows:— Pianoforte solo, Sister E. Tippett; songs, Miss Perry and the Gray sisters; carols by the company; recital, Sister C. Millar; monologue. Bro. Asher; instrumental duet, Messrs. Watson and Bandmaster Scotney; ventriloquism, Mr. Dobson. The preparation of the tobies and provisions was attended to by Sisters Symington, senr., and Carpinfer, who wore assisted by a band of willing young sisters of Anzac. Tho National Anthem closed a most enjoyable function.
