In several districts of Czecho-Slovakia a. new’ method of fighting alcoholism has been established. The police are punishing public-house owners for every man becoming drunk at their premises. Barmen aro ,now watching customers to see whether they are keeping within the permitted limits, and the publicans intend overcoming difficulties by asking customers who are known to drink too well for advance deposits equal to the amount of drunkard’s fine.
