Mr L O H. Tripp, chairman of the Wellington War Relief Association, will leave for the south' on Monday evening. ' Sir Joseph Ward has returned to Wellington from the south. Dr. L. D. Cohen will leave for t'he south to-day on holiday and Will not ietnrn until the New Year.

Mr. H. A. Parkinson has been returned as teachers’ representative on the Victoria College Council.

Miss Resina Buckman, the gifted New Zealand prima donna, and her husband, Mr Maurice D’Oiseley, a tenor of repute. are to visit New Zealand about tho middle of next year.

At last night’s meeting of the Acclimatisation Society, the resignation of Mr. R. A. Holmes was received and Mr. I. A. McKay was appointed to the vacancy.

Very sincere and heartfelt were the words’ of welcome addressed to Mr. L. O. 11. Tripp yesterday on his resumption of tho chairmanship of the executive of the War Relief Association. Mr. C- M. Luke, who had been acting as chairman, said that every member of the executive was exceedingly glad io see him back once more. Mr. Tripp thanked Mr. Luke and the members of the board for their kind words, also for the work they had undertaken whilst he had been away. He had read during his absence a letter in which comment was made to'the effect that tho cost of running the association was excessive. Ho had been connected with the association for some years, and could .say that the costs were not high considering the work that was done. The trouble was that tho public did not realise the groat amount of work undertaken. On the suggestion of Mr. W. Ferguson, a vote of thanks was passed to Mr. C. M. Luke (acting-chairman) and Mr. A. Macintosh (deputy-acting chairman) for the work they had done so well in Mr. Tripp's absence Mr. A. Heino, 8.A., of the teaching staff of Wellington College, has resigned his position, and is retiring on superannuation. lie has been teaching at tho. college since April, 1882, and for the last thiefy years has boon first assistant. His resignation was accepted with regret at yesterday’s meeting of the College Board of Governors, which expressed appreciation of Mr. Heine’s long aud valuable sea-vices.
