Mr. Harold Beck, the Christchurch ’cellist, has received the following letter from Mr. Henri Verbrugghen, conductor of the New South Wales Orchestra: —"1 din very glad, to hear of the. good work you are doing on behalf of the orchestra, and I am very hopeful that, the New Zealand people . will see their way to participate in the guarantee fund, ns it is very desirable that the \ orchestra should be considered to belong as much to the Dominion ns to Australia. 1 feel that the scope of this organisation should extend throughout the Dominion as well as through the Commonwealth. I know that you can help with the forth, coming tour of New Zealand very materially. We are undertaking a heavy financial responsibility without prospects of making any profits, but I shall feel quite, satisfied if we manage to cover expenses. This result can only 'bo achieved by the assistance and support of all music lovers in New Zealand. 1 hope that it will be possible for you to play as soloist with the orchestra at some of the New Zealand concerts, and would be very glad to know if you would be available."
