JANUARY INSTALMENT TO BE MET GERMANY RAISES LOAN IN LONDON By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright Paris, December 8. A message, from Berlin indicates that Herr Rathenau. as the result of his visit, to London, has arranged a 36,060,000 ' loan. It is believed that Germany will be able to meet the January instalment of the reparations without further assistance. M. Loueheur (Minister of Liberated Regions) has gone to London to confer with Sir Robert Horne respecting various points. It is believed this is the prelude to an Allied conference on all the issues between Germany and the Allies. M. Loueheur will discuss the Wiesbaden Agreement in London. He is hopeful that an agreement will he reached between Britain and France on the subject.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. MISUNDERSTANDING S CLEARED AWAY. (Rec. December 9, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 9. The "Daily Chronicle” says: “Herr Rathenau’s mission has resulted in clearing up many misunderstandings. He has not secured material concessions, but was given assurances of practical sympathy if Germany makes a serious effort to restore her economic stability by abolishing the. railway, postal, and other subsidies, and levying suitable taxation. Herr Rathenau has been enlightened regarding British Budget method.’, and received some conditional promises of ' financial assistance from private British bankers. He has also paved the way towards a resumption of banking transactions Between Germany and Britain, which are now in a chaotic condition owing to the exchange rates.” • M.
