GENERAL SYLVESTRE REPORTED TO BE ALIVE. Paris, November 2S. The "Journal” states that General Sylvestre is alive.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable [General Sylvestre was in command of the garrison at Dfelilla, -when tho natives attacked tho positions in July last. !■ was reported that the rebels killed many of the Spanish soldiers, and eut off the troops from their base. General Sylvestre ordered a retreat, but, with his «taff, remained at the post of danger. Declaring that they must not fall into th? hands of the rebels, the General and his officers committed suicide.]
