’ WIRELESS FROM MANUKA. According to a wireless message received on Saturday from the Manuka, en route from Sydney to Wellington, the vessel should arrive in the stream at 10 this morning. The Union Company advises that the Manuka will receive cargo on Wednesday, and sail on the return voyage the following day. WHANGAPE FOR WELLINGTON. The Union Company’s steamer Whangape was exnected to clear Newcastle on. Saturday for Wellington and Dunedin. MARAMA FOR-WELLINGTON. The Manama, which arrived at San Francisco on Tuesday night from Sydney and Wellington, was expected to sail on the return voyage on Saturday. ORIENT LINE. Movements of units of the Orient Line engaged in the London-Sydney service are announced as follow:— The mail steamer Oeterley, which arrived at Sydney on Saturday, will sail for London on December 10. The intermediate service steamer Omar is due at Sydney on December 5, and will not now sail on the return voyage until December 20. The other intermediate vessel. Orcades. now in Sydney, will sail for London on December 6. instead of December 3, as previously announced. e THE NIKAU Upon arrival from Nelson to-morrow, the ferry steamer Nikau will proceed to the slip for painting and cleaning. She will come down in the afternoon and sail at 5 o’clock as usual. Messrs. W. M. Bannatvne. the local agents, advise that the vessel will not load outward cargo tnar day. SUSSEX TN PORT. Tn continuation of her voyage from New York, via Auckland, the Sussex arrived at Wellington oh Saturday night. From here the vessel wijl subsequently proceed to Lvttelton and Dunedin, and thence on to Melbourne. KAIWARRA DUE TO-DAY. As wireless message received on Saturday from the Kaiwa.rra, on route from Newcastle, Advised that she would now arrive at Wellington this afternoon. THE JRARANGA. No change is announced in connection with the programme of the S.S. and A. steamer Matakana. now at Dunedin. The Canadian Pioneer is now expected to leave New Plymouth to-morrow evening for Melbourne, Sydney/ and Brisbane, and thence American and Canadian ports. UNION COMPANY’S APPOINTMENTS. In view vf'the approaching transfer to Wellington of the head office of the Union Steam -Ship Company of New Zealar.i. Ltd., several staff changes are about to be made (reports the Dunedin “Star"). Mr. S. K. Sleigh, at present manager of the Christchurch branch, has been appointed manager at Dunedin, and will take up his duties early in December. He will also carry out the dutiea of secretary. Mr. W. H. Price, manager of the Timarn branch, will take cliiirge of the branch at Christchurch. Mr. R. D. Halstead, of the head office staff, has been appointed manager at Timaru, and will take up his new duties at au early date. MADIA’S PROGRAMME. The Mahia arrived at Napier from Auckland yesterday, and upan completion of loading there will come on to Wellington, where she is due on Saturday next. The vessel will proceed to Picton six days later, and is timed to clear that port for London, via Cape Horn, on December 14. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain J Itankine has peen appointed to the command of the Kini, relieving Captain 11. Cordy, who has come ashore for instructions. Captain E. U. Vellenoweth has come ashore from the Flora on holiday leave. Mr. C. J. Hobden, formerly chief steward of the Arawa, who naa since bceu purser on the Waihehe lor about two years, and spent seven months on holiday in London, is chief steward ’of the liner Tamui, now at Wellington. Mr. G. A. Grey, chief officer of the Flora, has come ashore on holiday leave.
