QUESTION OF INHABITANTS’ STATUS. (Rec. November 27, 5.5 p.m.) London, November 26. 4 sub-committee of the League of Nations’ Mandate Committee had a course df consultations with reference to the nationalities to be given to the inhabitants of mandated territories. They saw Sir Fames Allen (New Zealand), Mr. M. L. Shepherd (Australia), and Mr Walton (Under-Secretary for the Colonies). It is understood that the committee is gratified at the British Empire’s firm adherence to the 'view that such 'inhabitants ought to take the status of protected persons, not the nationality of the mandatory Power, for the latter would support the idea that the mandates were only veiled annexahons-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
