LAUNCH BURNED AT SEA
Tlhe motor lajinch Sygnett 11. was burned and sank on- ths west roast early yesterday morning, reports Thursdays Auckland "Herald.” The launch left Onehunga on Tuesday evening for Kawhia, where she was to have engaged in harbour, passenger, and mail services. There were two men on board, Mr. J. Angrove, the owner, and his brother-in-law, Mr. Darcy Hamiltnn. i i When about seven miles out to sea, Mr. Angrove, it is stated, was priming the benzine tank when it suddenly exploded. The launch was immediately enveloped in flames, and the men had to make their escape in the dinghy with what they were wearing, without hat or boots. Tho launch disappeared shortly afterwards. The men were rescued by the steamer Arapawo, and afterwal o ' l ® transferred to tho Rarawn. bound from New Plymouth, which took them back to Onehunga. . Both men, who are about 49 yeais ot age, suffered from shock and burns about the hands and feet. Tho launch was equipped with engines of 20 horse-power, and was valued at JIGOO.
