THE LATE MR. G. E. TOLHURST
SERVICE AT. ST. RAUL’S PROCATHEDRAL. -The esteem in which the late Mr. G. E. Tolhurst was held was. evidenced by the large attendance at his funeral yesterday morning. The remains were removed from his late residence, 34 Grant Road, to St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, where an impressive service was held, the church being well filled by the friends of the deceased and the family. The service was .conducted' by the Bishop of Wellington (Dy. Sprolt), who was assisted by the Vicar of St. Paul a (Ven. Archdeacon A. ,M. Johnson). The congregation at the church comprised a .number of prominent citizens and representatives of.- various banking institutions. Those present included- Sir John Luke. Mr- J. P. Firth. Mr. William Ferguson, tho Rev. Dr. J. Kennedy Elliott,' and Messrs. Harold Beauchamp (chairman of directors of tho Bank ot New Zealand), W,. A, Kennedy (local manager of . the Union Steam Ship Company). C. W. Jones (manager of tho Huddart-Parker Company), A. F. Roberts (of Mnrra.v, Roberts, and Co.), T. Nerve, William Watson (of the Bank of New Zealand directorate), R. W. Gibbs (chief auditor of the Bank of bow Zealand), T/E. Corkhill (acting-general manager of the Bank of New Zealand). R. *B. Rigg (inspector), J. B Henry (manager of (he Wellington branch of the Bank of Now Zealand), J. G. Stctt (manager of the Wellington branch of. the National 80-ik). J. H. B. Coates (late general manager of the National Bank), A. J Jolly (chief inspector of the Union Bank of Australasia), A. W. McNicol (acting-manager at Wellington frt 1 . the
Union Bank), F. P. Yaldwyn (manager of the Commercial Bank), C. G. Ogily;e (inspector for Now' Zealand of the Union' Bank of Australia), ami numerous others. Tho chief mourners were the jmemhers of the'late Air. Tolhurst’s family: Air. R. M. Tolhurst, Air. G. Gerald Tolhurst, and Mrs;’ T. Young.
