THREE MONTHS FOR THEFT’
The police business in the Magistrate’s Court vosterday was taken by Mr. i'. 1 For insobriety, Charles Beck with one previous conviction, was lined 10s., in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. David Thomas.was charged with the theft of a razor and' other goods, value ,£5 10s., the property of Gharies . nuth. The accused was convicted of \fhe oifonce, and as there were several previous convictions against him. he was sentenceil to three months’ imprisonment Arthur Bromley was convicted ot heing the owner of a clangorous dog an was ordered to pay 275. costs For committing a broach of ’>is prohibition order, J. Gould was fined 20s For being on licensed premises atter closing hours. W. A. Gaines was fined 405.. and J. G. Sutherland 20s. Herbert Stevens, who was found at 4 o’clock yesterday morning "sleeping out.” was convicted of being an incorrigible rogue. Stovens was sent to prison Tor six months in January last for a similar offence, and the Magistrate thought it would be a kindness to send him back to gaol. Stevens was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment. Patrick Sheridan, at present serving a ‘term tof probation, was convicted of stealing JU. n’nd with committing a hreach"of his probation order.. Ho was sentenced io fourteen days’ imprisonment for theft and six months were added to the term of his probation For failing to close his tobacconists shop at tho proper hour, M. Berman was 'fined 29’. and 7’. costs.
