BOXING
MURRAY-O’NEILL TO-NIGHT. A final reminder to patrons of boxing is given in our advertising columns. In to-night’s tournament the light-weights O’Neill, the champion, and Murray, will meet, and a contest of more than ordinary interest is anticipated. Both men aro reported to bo at tho top of their form, aro known to be free, hard hitters. Excellent preliminaries arc promised. Tho heavy-weight six-round contest between Mcßae, of Nelson, and Whittaker,’ who has lately come to Wellington from the Coast, is causing a good deal of interest. Whittaker was tho runner-up in tho New Zealand championship, many good judges being of opinion that ho should have secured tho verdict in the final against McCleary. Tho box plan will bo open until 4 o’clock this afternoon, and the association announces that seats in excellent positions may still bo obtained.
