NOMINAL PENALTY IN AUCKLAND ’ ' ‘ CASE. By Telegraph--Pre»« Association. Auckland, November 9. Dealing with the charge against Hetrtert A. Yeldham. of having practised medicine under the description of Late Acting-surgeon, Defence and Pensions, implying that he was specially qualified to practise medicine and Mr. Poynton, S.M., said to-day that it should bo mentioned in justice to the defendant that he was not an ignorant quack, but a man of wide knowledge, experience, and skill His services during, the war were accepted by i the State, and in backcountry districts ho had been of great service to settlers. For these reasons only a nominal penalty of would b imposed. This was increased to Xc Is to enable defendant to appeal. On charges of having practised under tho stylo ana title of "surgeon” and under a description implying that he held a degree and diploma, defendant was convicted and discharged. ’
