Coates) said that in accordance w!Ci a promise made a survey gang had been put upon the two “Ito”!!five routes between Wellington and M airarana A considerable -amount of information had been collected and one of the trial lines had been almost comnleted The surveyors were still at uoik. PAEKAKAKIKI DEVIATION “It is regretted that no definite reply to this question" can bo given at the present time” said the Alinister of Public Works (Hon. J. G. Coates) when asked I by Air. W. 11. Field (Otaki) when the Pnekakariki railway deviation would probably be constructed. The Alinister of Internal Affairs has promised to consider a suggestion of Air. \V. H. Field (Otaki) that the number of racing permits available for distribution might, be increased by reducing —perhaps by ono race —the number of races to bo run in any one day.
