MISCELLA NEO DS PROSECUTIONS. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., was on ths bench at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, and dealt with the police cases. Victor E. Maxwell pleaded guilty to stealing a bicyclo value X 7, the property of J. 11. Mannins. On the application of Chief Detective Kemp sentence was deferred until Monday. Lionel S. Adams pleaded guilty to being a rogue and vagabond in that he was found by night on the enclosed premises of Charles 11. Groundsell, No. 2 Kent Terrace. Adams was further charged with breaking and entering the premises of C. 11. Groundsell and stealing 50 packets of cigarettes, two tins cocoa, and lOd. in money, of the total value of 355., also with the theft of a bundle of crackers, value 205., the property of Sing On Kee. On the two iiidictable charges he was remanded untill Friday, and sentence on tho first charge was deferred until that day. Margaret Mason was/chargcd that on October 18 she did assault Margaret M'lTugh. Tho parties were neighbours, and on toe date in question, both women were stated to bo under the influence of lioucr, and as the result of some .words the assault was alleged to have ’’taken place. T ho complainant declared that she was struck'on the head with a h.ttle, and was in hospital for a peek. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate entered a conviction, and ordered the defendant to nay costs totalling Sydnev E. Hasse was sent to gaol for a fortnight for stealing a pair of boots from th:- shop of R. Hannah and Co., Ltd., Lambton Quay. Ahjlmr Oldham, a watersider, was, on October 19, noticed by a wharf official to bo carrying n small parcel. He was detained and searched when be was found in possession of a packet cf candles, value I=. 3d. Tnveisfigations showed that tho packet had been removed from n case in the Harbour Board's- shed. Oldham plond'4 -millv to the charge, and was sentenced to fourteen days im-
