MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Land Board was commenced on Wednesday. The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. G. ri. M. McClure) presided, and there were present: Messrs. J. Dawson, H. T. G. Kitto) to Joseph Mosen; section 5, Block XIV, Manganui, 200 acres, the Registrar of the Supreme Court (of the interest of Mrs. P. G. Kitto) to Joseph Mosen. Applications for Fee Simple. Therfollowing applications for the fee simple*were approved:—Section 2,. Block X, Hautapu S.D.. 91 acres, Joseph Cleaver; section 70. Block X, Hautapu. 17 acres. Joseph Cleaver. Miscellaneous. t Sections 1 to 5, Block IT, and sections 1 to 4, Block 111, Ninia township. 80 acres. —Tho board had been requested to consider the question of the disposal of the above sections.' —Resolved to offer Mr. Walter Stephens a license under section 131) of tho Land Act, 1908, for a term of five years from January 1, 1922, at a rental of £l5 per annum. Section 45. Block V, Kakahi township, 1 acre 0 roods 18 perches—Mr.’John M. Mathias, as trustee in the estate of Edwin Watkins, deceased, applied to transfer tho year-to-year license over tho above section to Mr. Charles NeilsonResolved to determine tho existing license as at December 31 next, and grant a vear-to-year license under section 130 of ‘the Land Act, ISOS, to Mr. Charles Neilson at a rental of 30s. per annum from January 1, 1922. . Section 17, Block IX, Puketoi S.D., 80 acres—The board was requested to consider the question of the disposal of the above education reserve.—Resolved to offer lessee a new lease for a term of fourteen years from January 1, 1922, at a rental of £23 7s. Gd. per annum, with perpetual right of renewal. Section 74, Block XII, Mangaone S.D., 49 acres 2 roods.—Mr. Robert Brannigan applied for a renewal of his education lease over the above section. —Resolved to offor lessee a new lease for a term of twenty-one years from January 1, 1922, at a rental of £ll 16s. per annum, with perpetual right of renewal. Section 5, Block XI, Whirinaki S.D., 157 G acres—Ths board was requested to considered tho question of the forfeiture x>f the license over the above section. The ranger reports that the section was in its natural state, no one in occupation. —The section was declared forfeited.

Sections 11 and 12. Block TV, Piriaka township,-4.2 roods. —Mr. T. O. Jones applied to surrender his year-to-year license over the above sections as at December 31, 1921.—Resolved to accept surrender as at December 31, 1921.

Messrs. A. B. and A. .E. Spicer applied for a lease, of section 5, Pitangi Village, containing 1 rood.—lt was resolved to grant Spicer Bros, a year-to-year lease under section 130 of the Land Act, 1908, at a rental of 7s. per annum, subject to the usual conditions. The, Rnngataua Timber Co., Ltd., was granted a year-to-year permit to occupy 25 acres of grass land in section 30, Block TIT, Makotuku, from November 1, 1915, subject to the usual conditions, at a rental of .£lO per annum—lt was resolved io .determine the tenancy granted to the h’angataua Timber Co. for part of section 30, Block 111, Makotuku, as from December 31, 1921.

The ranger reported that Mrs. M. E. Price, did not desire Io take up a temporary license of 19 acres of Crown land adjoining section 16. Block XIV, Manganui.—lt was resolved io declare tho application of Mrs. Price for the above land to be lapsed. Consideration was given to the disposal of section 5, Block NT, Retaruko S.D., area. 6 acres 3 roods 18 perches.—lt was resolved to allot the section toA.C. Tennant. under section 4 of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act. 1915, at a capital value of 4i120, with tho house, valued at .£lO9. to bo paid for by annual instalments over a period of seven years, subject to tho examination of the applicant being satisfactory. Mr. AV, J. Connors applied for a temporary lease of section 8. Waddington settlement, 3' acres 2 roods 11 perches. This section was forfeited by J. JJatson, and was offered for selection on May 23, 1921, at a capital value of .£-125, weighted with .£219 valuation for improvements. —It was resolved to refuse the application. and that the section be divided into two portions, the northern portion to bo allotted to W. T. Knox, holder of section, 7, and the southern portion to 2xl, Pescini. holder of section 9. weighted with value of existing impiovemcnts. The extended milling license hold by the Tnmaka Sawmill Co.. Lid., over sections T, 8, 9. 19. Block XII. Kaitieke, area 693 acres 1 rood 39 perches, expires on March 31,/ 1922, and tho company applied for a renewal for two years.—lt was resolved to. recommend a further extension of'the license for two years from April 1, 1922, upon payment of a ground rent.
