RIFLE SHOOTING
PETONE V. HAUTERE. A match was fired between the Pctone and Hautere Clubs yesterday at Hautere. Owing to the severe weather conditions it was decided to fii'e fourteen shots at 300 yards, And a start was made at noon but owingi to the rain reappearing the match was decided on ftie first seven rounds. A very strong front gale was blowing, and during its progress a tree was blown down, carrying away the telephone wires. The Hautere range is nicely situated, on Mr. Mackersey’s property, and some tall scoring should be made there in suitable weather. The match was won by the local club by four points, and they were heartily congratulated by President R. E. Flaws.
