MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP RETAINED BY J. HEENEY Bv Telesraph.—Press Association. New Plymouth, October 22. Tho professional contest between J. Heeney (Gisborne), 11st., and J. Cadman (Auckland), list. 41b., for tho middleweight championship and a purse of 150 sovs., was decided this evening ire the presence of about 1290 spectators. After a good, fast exhibition Heeney retained tho title, knocking out the challenger in the eighth, round. Heeney proved too good throughout, showing marked superiority in close work. O’NEILL V. MUSSON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, October 23. A professional light-weight boxing contest for a purse of .6150 between Frank O’Neill and Jim Musson (Australia) last night, went only five rounds, after which Musson, whose condition was lacking, claimed to have been fouled, refusing cither to continue or be medically examined. Tho referee, Mr. Nash, declared it no fight, though O’Neill was always the aggressor and appeared to be a sure, winner. M'Donald (Blackball) beat Guy (Grey) in a six rounds amateur bout.
