MOON OUT OF ITS COURSE

ACTION OF UNKNOWN INFLUENCES. London, October 21. The "Daily Mail" states that the eclipse of tho moon on October 17 proved that the moon is slightly out of its proper course, and is also distinctly ahead of time. Dr. Crommelin says that, reckoning a second of the arc in the. moon’s orbit as one mile, the moon has deviated twelve miles. Its erratic behaviour began thirty years ago, owing to unknown influences acting on it. He susnects that possibly some magnetic force is the cause. The "Daily Mail" remarks thut the moon’s behaviour falsifies tne tables published in the nautical almanac for purposes of navigation, and the IJ-3 edition will have to be revised.—Aus.N.Z.
