'l’he amount of subsidy per annum required by tenderers for the service must bo stated. , . , , . . No concessions of any kind whatsoever will be granted in respect of the vessel cm ployed. Tho’vessel will be required to run as far as possible on the present routes, including a monthly call at Labasa. s-’m upon a schedule time, to be approved by the Government. The successful tenderer will be required to submit a scale of fares and freights for approval by Government. The Government does not bind itself to accept any fender. The vessel to be employed must conform to the’ following requirements, viz.;—Dimensions to be not less than—length, 180 feet; breadth. 28 to 30 feot; carrying capacity, not less than 300 tons. Vessel to have a speed o.f not less than 10 knots net hour, and, preferably, to be fitted with two boilers and twin-screw engines. Suitable passenger accommodation for not less than 30 saloon passengers to be provided. Cover for deck passengers to lie provided. Space to be provided aft for the carriage of at least fifty head of cattle, with cover if possible bv movable deck. Vessel to be fitted with electric light and refrigerating plant. Special attention to be bestowed on bathing accommodation for all classes. The service to ho maintained for a period of two (2) years. If required, the vessel carrying on the service will be permitted to leave the Colony for a period of not more than one month in each year for the purpose of being docked. During the period of that absence the subsidy shall be reduced in proportion to the period of absence. Should the vessel for any reason except the above, he not available for carrying on the service, she must be replaced within a reasonable time by a vessel conforming to the requirements stated.
