The judge (Mr. ■Watkins) expressed himself as very pleased indeed with the attempt made. Piano Playing Championship, 16 years or over.—Miss V. Fly, Masterton, 1. Recitation, ladies under 21 years (“All Shall Pass Away”).—V. Naylor, Masterton, 1: C. Cairns, Masterton, 2. Piano Duet, under 16 years.—Miss E. Winslado and Miss J. Vincent, Masterlon, 1: Miss L. M’Calmont and Miss G. Scott, Masterton. 2. Humorous Recitation, under 1G years.— Miss Z. Carroll. Wellington, 1 ; Master L. Shepherd. Wellington, 2. Character Dance, under 12 years.—Z. Carroll, Wellington, (Polish dance). L E. Wiggins, Wellington (Podwer Puff dance). 2; S. Breen (Spider dance). 3. Miss Breen gave an excellent exhibition which evoked the general and enthusiastic approval of the audience. The judge (Mrs. J. A. Betts) held, however, that it was an acrobatic feat rather than a dance, and so awarded Miss Breen third place. ■’

Through a. typographical error it was stated in Wednesday’s Dominion that Air. Erie Breadwell had been placed first in recitation (gentlemen, under 21 years). This should have read “Mr. Eric Threadwill.” The subject for the prepared reading test on Tuesday was "In Memoriam” (Maeterlinck), and the winner of this section was Air. Barton Ginger, Wellington.
