HARBOURS CONFERENCE

THE BUSINESS COMPLETED. 'The Harbours Association Conference was continued yesterday morning. Mr. J. G. Harkness presided. It was decided to request the Govern, meat to amend the Harbours Act so as to enable general harbour regulations to be made providing for the sealing up of ash-ejectors of vessels on arrival in port. The conference resolved that section 207 (15) of the Harbourn Act, 1909, bo amended to provide for the licensing of coal hulks and (other vessels trading within the port, but not plying for hire. Tho conference decided to bring under tho notice of the Minister of Finance without delay the. remit asking that boards be relieved from tho duty of collecting debenture taxes. After considering matters connected with labour on tho waterfront the conference concluded.
