IRISH CONFERENCE
STRENGTHENING OF TRUCE DISCUSSED GOVERNMENT REFUSES TO RELEASE INTERNEES By Telegranh—Press Association—Conyrlght (Rec. October 13, 8.5 p.m.) London, October 12. Tho sub-committee of the Irish Conference discussed the strengthening of tho truce. The British representatives pointed out that there were many ways in which the truce was being evaded, including the commandeering of Government property and the training of Sinn Fein forces. Tho Irish delegates met the allegations with counter-charge’s, and urged tiiat the whole matter was bound up with the question of the internees, who number more than 3250. They said the release of prisoners would be a great factor in easing the situation. The British delegates replied that such release would have a prejudicial effect in Gio event of the conference failing. As a result of the conference the Government made it plain that it will not release the internees.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
