THE STEAMER BROXTON
OFFER. TO GOVERNAIENT NOT ACCEPTED., By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, October 10. The purchasers of .the American steamer Broxton, not having received an acceptance of an offer made to the New Zealand Government to sell the ship to the State, have proceeded with the formation of a company to control the vessel. It is proposed to form 1 a company with a capital of £14,000. Provisional directors have been appointed, a master for the vessel has been engaged, and the company has received five separate offers of charters. The probability is that tlie vessel will go into the overseas trade. Tlie officers and /crew of the Broxton have lodged claims totalling nearly £3OOO for wages, etc. The case will be heard to-morrow by the Supreme Court in its Admiralty jurisdiction.
