LOWER HUTT BOROUGH

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. . A meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council, over which the Mayor (Mr. E. P. Rishworth) presided, was held on Monday night, when there were also present: Councillors A. J. Hobbs, A. J. West, AV. T. Strand, AV. Dempsey, J. MitchelT, J. Brassel, AV. Meldrum, and A. M'Bain. , The Mayor and town clerK ■ were appointed to represent the council at tho Municipal Associations* Conference on October 4. ' The Commissioner of Crown Lanas wrote, offering to hand over to the council section 92, Normandale, subject to tho council's accepting dedication of the present track as a roadway, and the sum of 4125 towards putting the track in repair.—The offer was referred to No. 1 Committee for a report. A. plan of portion of the Graccfield estate, tho eastern boundary of which fronts the AVainui-o-mata Road, was received from Messrs. Middleton, Smith, and Coulter, win. asked tho council to endorse the deposited plan stating that that part of the AVainui Road was under control of tho council as a public road.— It was decided to adopt the plan. The T/ower Hutt Municipal Brass Band advised that it would give a benefit concert ’on Sunday, October 23, tho proceeds from which would be devoted ta tho unemployment fund.
