The Minister of Lands made an important statement .regarding the ... finances of the soldiers’ settlement scheme in the House of Representatlves in the afternoon. He said' that arrears of rent and instalments amount now. to £358,270, but the actual losses so far had been very small. The Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Bill, the Banking Act Amendment Bill, and the Anzac Day Amendment Bill were introduced in the House. Notices were given to set up the sessional committees, which will be appointed to-day.
