MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. / The Wellington Afiniature Rifle Association held its third annual championship meeting in the Buckle Street Drill Hall on Saturday afternoon. The entries totalled 149 (compared with 102 last year), the ladies’ clubs being well represented. There were 29 visitors from Featherston and Carterton, including nine ladies. Air. J. IV. Longman, vice-president of the association, addressed those present briefly, and read apologias from Colonel Collins, C.M.G. (patron of the association), Airs. Porter (vice-president), and others. Mr. G. Mitchell, MP., president of the association, spoke of the value of rifle shooting generally, and congratulated the association on the large number of entries. He made complimentary re--marks on the progress of the association, and said that it was doing good, work in teaching young folk to shoot. Sir John Luke, C.M.G. (vice-patron) congratulated the association on holding its third annual championship.
